What is the INSIDE OUT project?

Boards have been taking heat to diversify for years. Some, have been proactive with this, while others haven't. The INSIDE OUT project is intended to give a voice to non-traditional board members and to share how boards can pivot to lead their companies in a constantly evolving environment.

I will be interviewing professionals who currently hold a paid board position and have had an unconventional experience to get there share their insights of what their experience is and what they see changing in the future with corporate boards of directors.

Are you interested in participating?

Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions I am regularly asked...

How much does it cost to participate?

Financially, nothing. Instead, I will be asking for up to 3-hours of your time. Most of that will be a virtual interview that you just get to relax and share your experience.

What are you going to do with the information?

How much information I am able to gather will determine the final result.

The minimum is an article series that will be published on my blog and put together in an ebook. If I get enough, I will turn it into a book.

If you end up writing a book, who will be your publisher?

In all of my research, I have found that it is best to self-publish first and then depending on the success of the book, work with a publisher. So, I would be self-publishing under my publishing company Brand or Culture.

How many people are you going to interview?

My target is between 100-200 people.

Why aren't you interviewing nonprofit board of directors?

If you feel you are a good fit for this project and you only sit on a nonprofit board, please contact me and I would be happy to consider you.

What if I share personal or information that could get me into trouble?

It's ok! Whatever you say during our interview is between us. When I write, I only attribute positive comments, stories, or insights to you. Anything sensitive I share never gets attributed to a particular person. For example, we will be talking about pay. I will not say you earn $X amount plus receive these benefits. What I would say is "board members I interviewed in companies this size on average received $X amount while the national average is $X."

When in doubt, I do not give specific attribution. My goal is to promote you as best I can.
